Training session and conference on GNSS
A three-day winter training dedicated to the subject “GNSS and its influence on safety of general aviation” took place between 8th till 10th of February under the auspices of University of Žilina, Slovakian Civil Aviation Authority (CAA), and Transport Research Institute.
The training was organized as part of the CaBilAvi project (Capacity Building for Aviation Stakeholders). Overall 64 persons particularly from Air navigation services (LPS SR, ŘLP ČR), ATO’s, Slovak National Aeroclub, Ministry of Interior SK, Ministry of Defense SK, EASA, Czech Air Accidents Investigation Institute, and CaBilAvi project partners - DSA and Czech Technical University in Prague. However waste majority of participants were student pilots in training, who were given an opportunity to speak to their pilot role models. The training main topic was raising awareness about the use of GNSS systems in general aviation and related legislation. Besides the presentation regarding the practical use of GNSS systems, the speakers presented their experience gained during the implementation of PBN in VFR and IFR training and modern avionic devices. The presentation content was mostly based on materials and brochures within the framework of work package WP18 (GNSS for General Aviation Pilots) and individual experiences of the key-note speakers. At the end, all participants have been certified with a “Basic Training for Use of GNSS Systems for General Aviation Pilots” certificate.
